Each State Party shall take appropriate measures within its means to provide effective protection from potential retaliation or intimidation for witnesses and experts in criminal proceedings who give testimony concerning offences covered by this Convention and, as appropriate, for their relatives and other persons close to them.

Although it is noted that, in practice, Cuba has not so far needed to take measures to protect witnesses or experts, it would be desirable to provide for additional measures to protect witnesses and experts who give testimony concerning corruption offences and to their relatives and other persons close to them (art. 32, paras. 1 and 2).
وعلى الرغم من أنَّ من الملاحظ أنَّ كوبا لم تضطر حتى الآن، من الناحية العملية، إلى اتخاذ تدابير لحماية الشهود أو الخبراء، فإنَّ من المستصوب النص على تدابير إضافية لحماية الشهود والخبراء الذين يدلون بشهادة تتعلق بجرائم الفساد وحماية أقاربهم وسائر الأشخاص الوثيقي الصلة بهم (المادة 32، الفقرتان 1 و2).
