It covers activities for the period from July 2001 through July 2003 and complements the annual reports presented to the Commission on Human Rights during that period (E/CN.4/2002/114 and E/CN.4/2003/110).

Pursuant to this request, the annex to the present document contains the references to the pertinent chapters containing the conclusions and recommendations of the reports submitted to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty—fifth session by the thematic special rapporteurs and working groups.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights was requested to apprise the Commission at its fiftysixth session of the reports of the SecretaryGeneral about violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in Sierra Leone, including, to the extent possible, references contained in reports submitted to the Commission on Human Rights.

1. In its resolution 1999/1 the Commission on Human Rights requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to apprise the Commission at its fifty-sixth session of the reports of the Secretary-General about violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in Sierra Leone, including, to the extent possible, references contained in reports submitted to the Commission on Human Rights.

2. This report contains updates with additional information to the note by the Secretariat on the situation of human rights in Turkmenistan (E/CN.4/2004/118) submitted to the Commission on Human Rights in 2004.

18. Although the goal is plainly reaffirmed, the same lack of clarity as to the means mobilized and the same lack of any specific evaluation of the results obtained beyond the statistical data can be seen in the various technical documents submitted to the Commission on Human Rights.
