In his response of 29 November 2001 (S/2001/1129), the President of the Security Council indicated that the Council welcomed the intention of the Secretary-General to establish an Office and took note of the functions of the Office.

In addition, the Advisory Committee recalls that the Secretary-General also committed a sum of $2 million under the terms of General Assembly resolution 68/249 to fund initial operations for the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response following a General Assembly resolution in which the Assembly welcomed the intention of the Secretary-General to establish this mission (resolution 69/1).
