The Technical Secretariat for Indigenous Affairs (SETAI) had been created with the purpose of promoting, coordinating, directing, supervising and evaluating gender-sensitive policies, plans and programmes, and projects for the development of peasant and native communities, while respecting their ethnic and cultural identity and their own forms of organization.
