As of 3 December 2004, 50 States Parties had reported areas under their jurisdiction or control that contain, or are suspected to contain, anti-personnel mines.

III. Overview of States Parties' reporting on the location of all mined areas that contain, or are suspected to contain, anti-personnel mines

3. Information on " the location of all mined areas that contain, or are suspected to contain, anti-personnel mines " is crucial for the following reasons:

The most pressing concern about transparency in implementation is the low quality or absence of information having been provided by relevant States Parties, as required, on " the location of all mined areas that contain, or are suspected to contain, anti-personnel mines " and on the " status of programmes for the destruction (of these mines). "

(c) States Parties concerned by this decision shall continue to fulfil their reporting obligations under Article 7 of the Convention, including the obligation to report on the location of all mined areas that contain or are suspected to contain anti-personnel mines under their jurisdiction or control and on the status of programs for their destruction.

9. The States Parties may wish to intensify their interest in ensuring that Article 5 ultimately is fully implemented in part by giving serious consideration - and feedback - to information provided on " the location of all mined areas that contain, or are suspected to contain, anti-personnel mines " and on programmes leading to Article 5 completion (and the results of these programmes):

(c) States Parties concerned by the above mentioned decision shall continue to fulfil their reporting obligations under Article 7 of the Convention, including the obligation to report on the location of all mined areas that contain or are suspected to contain anti-personnel mines under their jurisdiction or control and on the status of programs for their destruction.
