2. The Fifth Committee considered the question of gratis personnel provided by Governments and other entities under items 111 and 118 at its 15th meeting, on 24 October 2002.

At its resumed fifty-seventh session, in June 2003, the General Assembly decided that future reports on the situation of gratis personnel provided by Governments and other entities should be submitted biennially (resolution 57/281 B).

2. By General Assembly decision 55/462 of 12 April 2001, the frequency of reporting on the situation of gratis personnel provided by Governments and other entities was changed from quarterly to annual, commencing with the period ending 31 December 2001.

2. The Fifth Committee resumed its consideration of the question of gratis personnel provided by Governments and other entities under items 111 and 118 at its 39th, 40th and 56th meetings, on 3 and 4 March and 4 June 2003.

Resolutions 51/243 and 52/234 on the use of gratis personnel provided by Governments and other entities contain relevant provisions in this regard, including the provision that all Member States should be informed of the selection process (resolution 51/243, para. 11 (d)).
