The Declaration also recognizes that indigenous peoples have the right to be actively involved in developing and determining economic and social programmes affecting them, and as far as possible, to administer such programmes through their own institutions (article 23).
ويسلم الإعلان أيضا بأن للشعوب الأصلية الحق في أن تشارك مشاركة نشطة في تطوير وتحديد البرامج الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي تمسها، وأن تضطلع، قدر المستطاع، بإدارة تلك البرامج من خلال مؤسساتها الخاصة (المادة 23).
