In an annex to its resolution 1984/50, the Economic and Social Council set out the minimum international standards that provide safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty.
وقد حدد المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، في مرفق قراره 1984/50، المعايير الدولية الدنيا التي توفر ضمانات تكفل حماية حقوق الأشخاص الذين يواجهون عقوبة الإعدام.

In the resolution, the General Assembly calls upon all States to respect international standards that provide safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty, and requests States to provide the Secretary-General with information in that regard.

Concern over the question of capital punishment led to the formulation of the safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty (Economic and Social Council resolution 1984/50, annex) and related recommendations.

The results of the survey contributed to the elaboration of the safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty, which were adopted by the Economic and Social Council later that year.

(b) According to article 7 of " safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of Those Facing the Death Penalty " , contained in Economic and Social Council resolution 1984/50, Ms. Rahmanpour has the right to seek pardon or commutation of sentence.
