Also requests the Secretary-General to report to it, for consideration at its fifty-seventh session, under the item on strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance, through the Economic and Social Council at the humanitarian segment of its substantive session in 2002, on the implementation of the present resolution.

At its fifty-fourth session, the General Assembly adopted resolution 54/96 M on assistance to Madagascar following the tropical cyclones and requested the Secretary-General to report to it, at its fifty-fifth session, through the Council at the humanitarian affairs segment of its substantive session of 2000, on the implementation of the resolution.

In that connection, the Government of Japan welcomes the consensus adoption of its resolution 2002/32, on strengthening of the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations, as the outcome of the deliberation of the humanitarian affairs segment of the Economic and Social Council in July this year.
وفي هذا الصدد، ترحب حكومة اليابان بحقيقة أن قراره 2002/32، المتعلق بتعزيز تنسيق المساعدة الإنسانية التي تقدمها الأمم المتحدة في حالات الطوارئ، اتخذ بتوافق الآراء، باعتباره نتيجة المداولات التي جرت، في تموز/يوليه من هذا العام، في الجزء المتعلق بالشؤون الإنسانية للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي.

4. Calls upon relevant organizations of the United Nations system, other relevant international organizations, Governments and non-governmental organizations to cooperate with the Secretary-General and the Emergency Relief Coordinator to ensure timely implementation of and follow-up to agreed conclusions of the humanitarian affairs segment of the substantive session of the Economic and Social Council;
4 - تهيب بمؤسسات منظومة الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، وسائر المنظمات الدولية ذات الصلة، والحكومات، والمنظمات غير الحكومية، أن تتعاون مع الأمين العام ومنسق عمليات الإغاثة في حالات الطوارئ لضمان تنفيذ ومتابعة الاستنتاجات المتفق عليها في الجزء المتعلق بالشؤون الإنسانية من الدورة الموضوعية للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في حينها؛

We believe it is necessary to make it a rule, as far as humanitarian issues are concerned, that first they should be fully discussed in the humanitarian affairs segment of the Economic and Social Council and that the results should then be endorsed by the General Assembly.

To this end, the Economic and Social Council shall ensure that its next humanitarian affairs segment, of its substantive session of 2000, addresses the issue of coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations to Mozambique.
