Furthermore, the Committee recommends that the State party strengthen its mechanisms for data collection on minority and indigenous children so as to identify existing gaps and barriers to the enjoyment of their human rights and with a view to developing legislation, policies and programmes to address such gaps and barriers.

The present report is prepared in response to the request made by the Commission at its thirteenth session for the Secretary-General to submit to the Commission at its review session a report concerning progress and obstacles in respect of sustainable development in small island developing States and making recommendations on enhancing its implementation.
