He had succeeded in turning Jordan from a small country with limited resources into an oasis of peace and stability in a region beset by disturbances and wars.
وتكتسب هذه اللحظة التاريخية بعدا وأهمية خاصين فــي حيــاة اﻷردن، الــذي غمره الحزن قبل عدة أشهر برحيل قائده العظيم، المغفور له الملك الحسين بن طلال، الذي نجح في تحويل بلد صغير محدود الموارد إلى واحة للســلام والاســتقرار فــي منطقــة تواجه الاضطراب والحروب.

As we accept this fated event with faith and contentedness, we must praise the exceptional qualities of the late King Hussein, who was a statesman, a leader, a visionary and a noble and courageous servant of his people and of the Arab world, who served the Palestinian cause and gave much thought and effort to helping us.
ونحن إذ نتقبل وإياكم قضاء الله وقدره، بإيمان واحتساب، سنتذكر باعتزاز وإكبار مناقب صاحب الجلالة المغفور له الملك حسين، الذي عرفناه رجل دولة وزعيما وقائدا ملهما وحكيما وشجاعا في خدمة شعبه وقضايا أمته العادلة، وخاصة قضية الشعب الفلسطيني التي منحها الكثير من وقته وتفكيره واهتمامه وعزيمته.

I have been authorized by the members of the Security Council to make the following statement to the press regarding His Majesty the late King Hussein of Jordan:
أذن لي أعضاء مجلس اﻷمن بأن أدلي للصحافة بالبيان التالي بشأن جلالة الملك حسين، العاهل اﻷردني الراحل:

Our solidarity and partnership, which was fashioned under the late King Hussein, will continue for generations to come.
وتضامننا وشراكتنا، اللذان صاغهما الملك الراحل حسين، سيستمران ﻷجيال قادمة.

The late King cared for his people, did much to modernize his country, and contributed immensely to the welfare and development of the Kingdom.
الملك الراحل غمر شعبه بالحنان وفعل الكثير لبث روح العصر في بلده وساهم مساهمة جمة في رفاه وتنمية المملكة.

Commends the strenuous efforts made by His Majesty the late King Hassan II, may Allah have mercy on his soul, in establishing the Baitulmal Quds Agency and enabling it to fulfill the Islamic mission of preserving the Islamic character of the city of Al-Quds. It also commends the fine efforts exerted in this regard by his successor, His Majesty King Mohamed VI.
