٣ - يؤكد تأييده الكامل لمهمة المساعي الحميدة التي يقوم بها اﻷمين العام والجهود التي يبذلها مستشاره الخاص المعني بقبرص من أجل استئناف عملية مستمرة من المفاوضات المباشرة الرامية إلى إحراز تسوية شاملة تقوم على أساس قرارات مجلس اﻷمن ذات الصلة، ويؤكد أيضا أهمية تضافر الجهود للعمل مع اﻷمين العام من أجل تحقيق تلك الغاية؛

18. Taking into account the resumption of the good offices of the Secretary-General in Cyprus and the appointment by the Secretary-General of his Special Adviser on Cyprus, whose post is funded under the regular budget, the post of Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Under-Secretary-General), which had previously been provided at a zero-cost basis, is no longer required.
18 - بالنظر إلى استئناف المساعي الحميدة للأمين العام في قبرص وتعيين الأمين العام مستشاره الخاص المعني بقبرص، الذي تُموَّل وظيفته في إطار الميزانية العادية، لم يعد هناك حاجة لوظيفة الممثل الخاص للأمين العام (وكيل الأمين العام)، التي جرى توفيرها في السابق بدون أي تكلفة.
