Regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2002, Algeria began work on several projects utilizing space technologies and geographical information systems as research tools in integrated development projects on the basis of the norms in force with regard to environmental protection.
21- وفيما يتعلق بتنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية المستدامة، المنعقد في جوهانسبرغ، جنوب افريقيا، في عام 2002، بدأت الجزائر العمل في عدة مشاريع باستخدام التكنولوجيات الفضائية ونظم المعلومات الجغرافية كأدوات بحث في مشاريع انمائية متكاملة، على أساس القواعد النافذة بخصوص حماية البيئة.

12. Space technology had become a vital instrument for the application of the recommendations of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, and a tool for responding adequately to many challenges, including climate change, the food and energy crises and natural disasters.
12 - وذكر أن تكنولوجيا الفضاء أصبحت أداة حيوية لتطبيق توصيات مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية المستدامة، ووسيلة للاستجابة الملائمة لتحديات عديدة، من بينها تغير المناخ، وأزمتا الغذاء والطاقة، والكوارث الطبيعية.

29. Space technologies were vital for the implementation of the recommendations of the World Summit on Sustainable Development and as a tool for responding quickly and appropriately to challenges such as climate change, drought, desertification, loss of biodiversity, food and energy crises, and artificial and natural disasters.

28. With regard to the implementation of the recommendations of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the Committee had before it a list compiled from information submitted by member States of the Committee and entities of the United Nations system on their space-related initiatives and programmes that correspond to recommendations contained in the plan of implementation (A/AC.105/2004/CRP.8).
28- وفيما يتعلق بتنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية المستدامة، عُرضت على اللجنة قائمة أُعدت من المعلومات المقدّمة من الدول الأعضاء في اللجنة والهيئات التابعة لمنظومة الأمم المتحدة بشأن أنشطتها وبرامجها المتعلقة بالفضاء التي تقابل التوصيات الواردة في خطة التنفيذ (A/AC.105/2004/CRP.8).(2)

(e) To recognize that the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space is the primary United Nations body for coordinating and achieving international cooperation in space activities, in close cooperation with relevant organizations, to initiate action utilizing space technologies for the implementation of the recommendations of the World Summit on Sustainable Development and follow-up to them;
