1. On 11 January 1997 Turkish village guards penetrated inside Iraqi territory in the Ufkuzi area to the north-east of Zakho district with a view to gathering intelligence.
١ - بتاريخ ١١ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٧، توغلت مفارز من حراس للقرى اﻷتراك إلى داخل أراضي العراق ضمن منطقة افكوزي شمال شرق قضاء زاخو بهدف جمع معلومات استخبارية.

6. On 25 January 1997 Turkish fighter aircraft bombarded the village of Banik situated to the north-east of Zakho district inside Iraqi territory.
٦ - بتاريخ ٢٥ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٧، قصفت الطائرات المقاتلة التركية قرية )بانك( الواقعة شمال شرق قضاء زاخو داخل اﻷراضي العراقية.

5. The Turkish forces are preventing farmers from working on their farms in most villages and have carried out search operations in the villages and residential complexes of Zakho district, as follows:

6. On 29 September 1996, from 1055 hours to 1102 hours, four sorties of Turkish combat aircraft were detected in northern Iraqi airspace over the region of Zakho and Amadiyah.
٦ - بتاريخ ٢٩ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٦، ومن الساعة ٥٥/١٠ ولغاية الساعة ٠٢/١١ تم الكشف عن أربـع طلعــات جويــة لطائــرات مقاتلة تركية في المنطقة الشمالية من اﻷجواء العراقية فوق منطقة )زاخو - العمادية(.

9. On 9 October 1996, from 1035 hours to 1038 hours, two sorties of Turkish combat aircraft were detected in northern Iraqi airspace over the region of Zakho.
٩ - بتاريخ ٩ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٦، ومن الساعة ٣٥/١٠ ولغاية الساعة ٣٨/١٠، تم كشف طلعتين جويتين لطائرات مقاتلة تركية في المنطقة الشمالية من اﻷجواء العراقية فوق منطقة )زاخو(.

10. On 10 October 1996, from 1000 hours to 1035 hours, four sorties of Turkish combat aircraft were detected in northern Iraqi airspace over the region of Zakho and Amadiyah.
١٠ - بتاريخ ١٠ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٦، ومن الساعة ٠٠/١٠ ولغاية الساعة ٣٥/١٠، تم الكشف عن أربع طلعات جوية لطائرات مقاتلة تركية في المنطقة الشمالية من اﻷجواء العراقية فــوق منطقــة )زاخو - عمادية(.

10. At 1200 hours on 14 February 1997 Turkish fighter aircraft bombarded the areas of Harunah, Bitas and Bizal situated to the south-east of Zakho district inside Iraqi territory.
١٠ - بتاريخ ١٤ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٧، وبالساعة )١٢٠٠(، قصفت الطائرات المقاتلة التركية مناطق )هارونة وبيطاس وبيزال( الواقعة جنوب شرق قضاء )زاخو( داخل اﻷراضي العراقية.

16. On 8 March 1997 two Turkish fighter aircraft and one helicopter engaged in reconnaissance along the border strip, within the restricted area between Ufkuzi and Sinat in the north-east of Zakho district, inside Iraqi territory.
١٦ - بتاريخ ٨ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٧، قامت طائرتان حربيتان تركيتان مع طائرة سمتية واحدة باستطلاع الشريط الحدودي، ضمن المنطقة المحصورة بين منطقة )افكوزي( ومنطقة )سناط(، شمال شرق قضاء )زاخو( داخل اﻷراضي العراقية.

19. On 15 March 1997 two Turkish military aircraft violated Iraqi airspace to a depth of 15 kilometres east of Zakho district and south of Amadiyah.
١٩ - بتاريخ ١٥ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٧، خرقت طائرتان مقاتلتان تركيتان اﻷجواء العراقية بعمق )١٥( كم، شرق قضاء )زاخو( إلى جنوب العمادية.

20. Between 1957 and 2037 hours on 21 March 1997 a Turkish military aircraft was detected making a sortie over the region of Zakho, inside Iraqi airspace.
٢٠ - بتاريخ ٢١ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٧، ومن الساعة )١٩٥٧( ولغاية الساعة )٢٠٣٧( تم الكشف عن طلعة جوية لمقاتلة تركية داخل اﻷجواء العراقية فوق منطقة )زاخو(.

At 1212 hours on 29 June 1993, a United States TR-1 reconnaissance aircraft flying at a speed of 700 kilometres per hour and at an altitude of 20,000 metres penetrated Iraqi airspace over the Ayn Zalah area in the Ninawa Governorate. It left at 1340 hours in the direction of Turkish airspace to the north of Zakho.
- في الساعة ١٢/١٢ من يوم ٢٩/٦/١٩٩٣ خرقت اﻷجواء العراقية طائرة استطلاع امريكية نوع )تي.آر-١( فوق منطقة عين زالة في محافظة نينوى بسرعة ٧٠٠ كم/ساعة وبارتفاع ٢٠ كم وغادرت في الساعة ٤٠/١٣ شمال زاخو باتجاه اﻷجواء التركية.

Further to our letter of 8 December 1997 (S/1997/968), I have the honour to draw your attention to the fact that on 25 December 1997, the Turkish armed forces, supported by the air force, launched a fresh invasion into the territory of the Republic of Iraq, towards the regions of Birbanah, Sanat and Afkuzi to the north-east of the city of Zakho.

Further to my letter dated 9 November 1998 addressed to you (S/1998/1049, annex), I should like to call your attention to the fact that on 17 February 1999 units of the Turkish armed forces supported by fighter aircraft and helicopters carried out a fresh incursion into northern Iraq by way of the Ibrahim al-Khalil crossing and through the Rabkah area north-east of Zakho and surrounding areas as far as the Iraq-Iran-Turkey tripoint.

4. On 29 December 1996 a force of Turkish village guards estimated at 250 armed men from the Kuyan clan accompanied by a number of Turkish intelligence officers crossed the international boundary in order to carry out reconnaissance in the Sinat and Ufkuzi areas to the north-east of Zakho inside Iraqi territory. The force subsequently withdrew inside Turkish territory.
