We also welcome with hope the words spoken recently in this very forum by representatives of the major Powers and other figures of great multilateral importance, as well as the ideas being circulated concerning the revitalization of nuclear disarmament and the renewal of this process.

The delegation of Peru is convinced that the resumption of nuclear testing contradicts the commitment and spirit of cooperation assumed by the international community last May when it decided in this very forum to extend indefinitely the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
