Yohannes Solomon was not there at the time, as he was attending events related to the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva.
ولم يكن يوهانيس في إثيوبيا آنذاك، إذ كان يحضر اجتماعات ذات صلة بلجنة حقوق الإنسان في جنيف.

I would also like to commend the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Lieutenant General Yohannes Tesfamariam, for his commitment and dedicated service under very trying circumstances.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the UNISFA Head of Mission, Major-General Yohannes Tesfamariam, the senior leadership and all staff of UNISFA for their contribution to help restore stability to the Abyei Area, and to maintain security and peaceful coexistence between the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya communities under very difficult conditions.

The UNISFA Head of Mission and Force Commander, Lieutenant-General Yohannes Tesfamariam, continued to impress upon both Governments the urgent need for a resumption of the meetings of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee, as the body tasked with providing political and administrative oversight of the Abyei Area on behalf of the President of the Sudan, Omer Hassan A. Al-Bashir, and the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir.

52. In conclusion, I wish to express my appreciation to the UNISFA Head of Mission and Force Commander, Lieutenant General Yohannes Tesfamariam, and his team for their sustained efforts to enhance peace and stability in the Abyei Area, despite many challenges, and to support the parties in the implementation of their border security agreements.
52 - وفي الختام، أود أن أعرب عن تقديري لقائد قوة الأمم المتحدة الأمنية المؤقتة لأبيي ورئيس البعثة، الفريق يوهانس تسفامريم، وفريقه على مواصلة جهودهما الرامية إلى تعزيز السلام والاستقرار في منطقة أبيي رغم العديد من التحديات، وعلى مساندة الطرفين في تنفيذ الاتفاقات الأمنية الحدودية المبرمة بينهما.

According to the information received, on 6 and 8 March 2004, two plain-clothes policemen reportedly went to the home of Yohannes Solomon in Addis Abiba and stated that they had come to arrest him in order to investigate his human rights activities; the police reportedly added that Yohannes Solomon should stop working for the Ethiopian Human Rights Council.
