Canada, which attached particular importance to the question of the impact of armed conflict on children, had recently hosted an international conference to foster support for a comprehensive ban on landmines and was actively supporting a General Assembly resolution on that issue.
٧ - وتابع كلامه قائلا إن كندا، التي تعلق أهمية خاصة على مسألة أثر المنازعات المسلحة على اﻷطفال، قد استضافت مؤخرا مؤتمرا دوليا يرمي إلى تعبئة الرأي العام بقصد فرض حظر شامل على اﻷلغام البرية، وإنها تؤيد بشكل فعال اتخاذ الجمعية العامة قرارا في هذا الاتجاه.

47. With regard to thematic resolutions, an expert appointed by the Secretary-General to study the impact of armed conflict on children, Ms. Graça Machel, briefly addressed the meeting to highlight her concerns, explain her method of work and seek cooperation from the participants.
