The report details the first-class travel of delegates and of the President of the General Assembly, as well as exceptions to the standards of accommodation for air travel authorized by the Secretary-General.

IV. Exceptions authorized by the Secretary-General

18. Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 62/232, OIOS conducted an audit of the use of extraordinary measures exceptionally authorized by the Secretary-General for UNAMID.

13. As shown in figure V below, the number of trips and the total additional cost of the exceptions authorized by the Secretary-General (such as medical condition, normal standard of accommodation not available, eminent and prominent persons) have increased steadily.

Mr. Baez (Chief, Policy and Oversight Coordination Service), introducing the Secretary-General's report on standards of accommodation for air travel (A/65/348), said that the report provided detailed information on the exceptions authorized by the Secretary-General to the standards normally applicable under the regulations and rules of the Organization.
