42. The Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Corruption, adopted by the African Union in 2003, enumerates among its objectives the establishment of the necessary conditions to foster transparency and accountability in the management of public affairs (art. 2, para. 5).

IV. Mobilizing resources and partners 125. Mr. Bhagwat-Singh (International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources): The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), adopted by the African Union (AU) as its programme, seeks to lift Africa out of poverty and steer it towards economic growth and sustainable development.

Egypt played an active role in the Conference of African Ministers of Industry (CAMI) in support of development and industrialization in Africa, and greatly appreciated the active contribution of UNIDO and its Director-General to CAMI activities and implementation of the Action Plan for the Accelerated Industrial Development of Africa, adopted by the African Union in January 2008.
