2. The Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council held 11 formal meetings from 16 January 1995 to 15 September 1995. The President of the General Assembly, Mr. Amara Essy, served as Chairman of the Working Group.

The Vice-Chairmen of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council distributed their compendium of observations and assessment in document A/49/965.
