The Government of the United Arab Emirates considers that the persistence of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in taking measures to perpetuate its occupation of the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, three islands belonging to the United Arab Emirates, for the purpose of imposing a fait accompli by use of force, can only further complicate the existing dispute.
وتعتبر حكومة دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة أن استمرار حكومة الجمهورية اﻹسلامية اﻹيرانية في تنفيذ إجراءات لتكريس احتلالها للجزر الثلاث، طنب الكبرى وطنب الصغرى وأبو موسى التابعة لدولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة، وبهدف فرض اﻷمر الواقع بالقوة لن يؤدي إلا الى تعقيد النزاع القائم.

Accordingly, the Government of the United Arab Emirates strongly protests to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran against this unlawful action. It regards this and all previous measures taken by the Iranian Government on Abu Musa as unwarranted acts of provocation that do not confer any rights on the Islamic Republic of Iran with respect to the island.
وعليه تبلغ حكومة دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة احتجاجها الشديد إلى حكومة الجمهورية اﻹسلامية اﻹيرانية على هذا العمل غير المشروع، وتعتبره وكافة اﻷعمال السابقة التي نفذتها الحكومات اﻹيرانية في جزيرة أبو موسى أعمالا استفزازية غير مبررة ولا ترتب أي حقوق للجمهورية اﻹسلامية اﻹيرانية في الجزيرة.

In October, I was advised in writing by representatives of the Government of the Islamic Republic of the names of 224 prisoners who had benefited from the clemency decree on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday.
