Effective enforcement against cartels sometimes has direct visible effects in terms of reduced prices in the market, as depicted in the secretariat's note on the impact of cartels on the poor with regard to the gasoline cartel case in Brazil, where prices fell following the raid carried out in the course of the investigation.
